Enemy 03:49
Waking up to that feeling that we lost another one today. I hadn't heard from them for a while but that doesn't mean a fucking thing. He was always there for me, Just a couple of buttons away. I was lucky to hear that voice standing a dozen feet away. Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best, I want to make my life count. Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best, I want to make my life count. All this time I lose to things that don't mean anything. I shout and scream but don't listen. My own worst enemy. Strangers filled with such meaning to a kid living so far away. Writing songs that I understood, That spoke to me on cloudy days. I see my heroes are passing and it makes me feel so very strange. I want to honour their memory and play some songs that won't fade away. Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best, I want to make my life count. Always finding time for the worst when I should be at my best, I want to make my life count. All this time I lose to things that don't mean anything. I shout and scream but don't listen. My own worst enemy.

about

Recorded at the Brighton Electric on an old Korg D1200 MKII.

Mixed on an old shitty Windows 7 laptop that's just about to die. It's so unbelievably slow now that it's painful. If I have to mix the next bunch of songs on it, I'll cry. I've demoed a bunch of new songs on it but the idea of doing a full project on it fills me with absolute dread.

An oldie and a cover, set for release a couple of months back when we had no idea when we’d get to be a band again when lockdown was in full swing.

"Enemy" was probably the song that started it all for me, Chayre and Ben when we first got together. When Ben left and we became Sturdy Wrists, "Enemy" was the song that helped us learn how to be a two piece.

We had to cover "Sturdy Wrists" by Rocket From The Crypt as they’re one of our favourite bands and it’s where we got our name.

It feels right to be putting this out into the world. It's the last stuff we'll be doing as a two piece. The new guy* has just made everything feel like it's going "wooooooooosssssssssssh" with his bass. It's awesome. Fucking awesome. The new songs are relentless with him on them. Looking forward to the future of Sturdy Wrists, no matter how mad everything seems these days. I've got eyes on doing an album but I'm 99% positive it's going to be a series of singles/EPs (*shrugs shoulders*). Who knows?! It's going to be loud though.

I hope you like this. If you don't, I can only apologise. Perhaps I could interest you in a chocolate hobnob instead? No? Bouffe de la merde et meurs.

*The new guy is called Steve and he is rad!

PS...we should've put this up on Bandcamp months ago but we're berks.
